With Amazon GameOn, you can drive engagement and increase monetization of your games by adding leaderboards, leagues, and multi-round competitions to your games, allowing players to compete for real-world prizes fulfilled by Amazon or other in-game rewards.
GameOn is a set of flexible APIs built on AWS cloud infrastructure that works on any operating system, giving you the ability to scale quickly. It's easy to integrate GameOn — all you need to do is access the REST APIs.
In this tutorial, we will walk you through how to integrate GameOn's APIs into an Android game. Using a simple quiz game as an example, you'll see how each piece fits together to produce a working game integration. The code for this game will be provided in whole without integration, then we'll go through each integration step.
We'll use the Kotlin language in code, but all concepts apply to Java. We'll also stick to standard Android framework classes, like Activities and AsyncTasks.
You'll learn how to:
- Register and authenticate players
- Allow players to enter a tournament or match
- Submit scores and get the leaderboard
- And more!
